In a study published this month in The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, Ursula Kelly, Terri Haywood, Eliza Segell, and Melinda Higgins demonstrated the effectiveness of Trauma Sensitive Yoga compared to Cognitive Processing Therapy for women veterans with PTSD after military sexual trauma.

“TCTSY improved symptoms significantly by the midpoint of the intervention, whereas significant improvements in the CPT group were not seen until 2 weeks postintervention. The substantially higher rate of retention and completion in the TCTSY group (60.5%) versus CPT group (34.8%) is a critical finding, as a significant limitation in CPT in the clinical setting is the relatively high dropout rate.”
