Originally from the Netherlands, Maria moved to Bordeaux in the South-West of France in 2010 and currently lives partly in the Netherlands, partly in France. Maria holds a Master’s Degree in Health Psychology, and is also a certified yoga teacher, mindfulness trainer, and trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator. Maria is passionate about the empowering benefits of contemplative and body-based practices, particularly mindfulness, restorative yoga, and trauma sensitive yoga, for cultivating an embodied sense of presence, safety, connection, and offering a deeper understanding of our life experiences. As a psychologist, Maria has conducted scientific research over the past couple of years on the potential benefits of mind-body interventions, such as MBSR, to support individuals with chronic illness (cancer) and pain. In her private practice, Maria integrates mindfulness and therapeutic yoga with psychotherapy to support individuals with different healing modalities that might be helpful for their personal processes of recovery.
