Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY): a 2.5-day Foundational Training for Yoga Teachers, Mental Health Professionals, Coaches, GGZ, Social workers & Educators, Â ONLINE via ZOOM.
This 2.5-day training will introduce participants to the core concepts and applications of David Emerson’s highly regarded intervention for Complex Trauma.
TCTSY is an adjunctive treatment for complex trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), developed in collaboration with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment in Brookline, Massachusetts, in 2003 and as part of the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) in 2006. TCTSY is utilized with children, youth, and adults around the world.
The aim is to help as many individuals as possible through trauma. Teaching yoga teachers, health coaches, mental health practitioners, educators and many more to support their customers through their own issues is an excellent way of doing that.
Upon completion of this two-and-a-half-day training, you will have achieved a thorough understanding of the core concepts of Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY). Testimonial
“I recommend this training for anyone facilitating yoga sessions. It gives you a useful grounding in trauma theory and substantial practical understanding to support in delivering more trauma-informed yoga. It has really helped me to provide more gentle, supported and appropriate sessions for LGBTI asylum seekers and refugees. But it has also changed the way I think about engaging with people beyond the yoga mat – I believe the world would be a kinder place if everyone did this training! ” Online Participant TSY Training 2023 – Louisa Borg-Costanzi Potts – Producer
“The Trauma-Sensitive Yoga training was a truly valuable addition to my work as an art therapist. As an art therapist, guiding clients through doing and experiencing is fundamental, much like in yoga. During the training, I gained inspiration for exercises, intensity, and especially the approach. As an art therapist, I understand that language and demeanour are significant factors in the effectiveness of therapy. This holds true for TSY as well, considering aspects like language usage and potential triggers. The distinction between trauma-sensitive and trauma-informed also became clear. I’m able to apply trauma-informed practices with my target groups, both in therapy sessions and classes. Thanks to the training, I now have tools to guide individuals with complex trauma through yoga. I highly recommend this training to fellow art therapists as it expands your range of approaches and techniques. Thank you, Esther, for this invaluable training!” Yvonne Peschier, Register vaktherapeut (beeldend & lichaamsgericht) & Yogadocent
