SUMMARY:Trauma-Sensitive Yoga | January 2026
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Sensitive Movement: Reconnecting with Yourself Safely\nWhat is Trauma-Sensitive Yoga?\nTrauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY) offers a safe\, gentle space where you can explore movement and breath in a way that feels right for you. It is designed to support people who have experienced trauma\, such as: \n\nPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)\nComplex trauma\nDevelopmental trauma\n\nThis approach was developed by David Emerson and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) in Boston. It is an evidence-based method focused on choice\, connection\, and empowerment. \nWhat are the sessions like?\nIn these sessions: \n\nYou decide how you move; everything is an invitation\, nothing is required.\nNo yoga experience is needed.\nThere are no physical corrections or adjustments.\nSafety\, choice\, and gentleness are central.\n\nIt is not about performing ‘perfect’ poses but about discovering what feels safe and supportive for your body in each moment. \nWhat might you experience?\nThrough gentle movement and mindful attention\, you may: \n\nDevelop greater self-awareness\nFeel more grounded in the here and now\nLearn to make choices that feel right for you\nExperience moments of rest and connection\n\nPractical Information\nWho: Everyone is welcome\, regardless of background or experience. \nWhen: \nMonday\, Wednesday\, and Friday mornings \nTuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings \nHow: Online via Zoom \nCost: €45 (excl. VAT) per session (€54.45 incl. VAT). But here\, I could really feel what was good for me. For the first time\, I felt softness instead of tension.” \n“After each session\, I feel more connected to my body. It helps me in daily life\, to notice when I need to pause and take better care of myself.” \n“These sessions help me find small moments of safety and trust again. I used to feel disconnected from my body after my trauma\, but now\, step by step\, I feel it’s okay to be here.” \nAccessibility & Financial Support\nWe believe that healing should be accessible to everyone. Free places are available for those who cannot afford the sessions. Please contact esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com to explore options together. \nFor professionals\nThese sessions are intended for personal experience\, not as training.
