SUMMARY:Trauma-Sensitive Yoga TCTSY Foundational Training April 2024 - English spoken
DESCRIPTION:About this Online Training\nExperience the Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) Foundational Training\, a 20-hour ONLINE training presented in English. \nTCTSY\, originating from the Trauma Center in Boston\, is a distinctive intervention supported by extensive research. It stands as the singular yoga program endorsed by SAMSHA / NREPP as an evidence-based trauma treatment. \nSince its establishment in 2003\, this program has aided numerous individuals coping with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and intricate\, inter-relational trauma. It has benefited diverse groups\, from military veterans to survivors of chronic abuse. Notably\, it has significantly alleviated PTSD symptoms in those grappling with complex trauma\, improving overall quality of life. \nTrauma-Sensitive Yoga is a welcoming platform for everyone\, irrespective of age\, gender\, race\, ethnicity\, body type\, or physical abilities. \nThis comprehensive introduction training holds the distinction of being the ONLY Trauma-Sensitive Yoga training accredited by the Justice of Resource Institute (JRI) and co-directed by David Emerson & Jennifer Turner from the Center for Trauma & Embodiment. It aligns with renowned works such as “The Body Keeps the Score” by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk\, “Trauma Sensitive Yoga in Therapy: Bringing the Body into Treatment” by David Emerson\, and “Overcoming Trauma through Yoga: Reclaiming Your Body” by David Emerson & Elizabeth Hopper. \nSpecifically crafted for psychotherapists\, social workers\, mental health clinicians\, yoga teachers\, activists\, educators\, and healthcare professionals\, this training aims to integrate the body into trauma-related contexts. It equips yoga teachers to create more trauma-informed classes and assists mental health practitioners and other professionals in integrating TCTSY elements\, like trauma-sensitive movement\, crucial for healing complex trauma. This integration applies in personal\, professional\, community-based\, or system-wide relationships. \nLearning outcomes\nThe program will introduce you to the core concepts and applications of TCTSY with an emphasis on how the core building blocks of TCTSY are basics to anti-oppressive\, trauma-sensitive work\, including: \n\nThe relationship of TCTSY on Trauma Theory\, Attachment\, Neuroscience & Interoceptive Theory\nNeurophysiology & Biology of Stress and Trauma concerning body-based therapies\nSpectrum of Trauma Impacts & Complex Trauma as Lived Experience\nPower and Oppression & its Impact on the Body\, in Therapy & with Therapeutic Relationships\nSome of the core theoretical underpinnings and methods of the TCTSY model can be applied to facilitating trauma-sensitive somatic practices\nBuilding Trauma-Sensitive Relationships\nTSY Practice and Practice Facilitation and Applications of Trauma and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga\nBenefits and Challenges in Implementing TSY & An Overview of Studies on TCTSY\nThere will be large and small group settings and a learning opportunity between theory and practice.\n\nDates and Times\nDay 1: Friday 19 April from 9:30 am till 17:30 CET \nDay 2: Saturday 20 April  from 09:30 till 17:30 CET \nPrice\nThe price for this training is €380\,00 (excluding VAT). \nExra training informatie\nThe Zoom link to join the training will be sent out by email several days before the start of the training. You will have access to a Google Drive folder where you can copy and download all seminar papers pre- and post-training. \nParticipants will receive a link by email to a Google folder to download the presentation as a PDF handout after training\, as the document is too big for most email accounts. \nThis training includes about 5 hours for individual learning (prepare practice teaching and facilitate 2 simple yoga forms on the second training day\, pre and post-reading\, etc.) \nPlease note: This foundational 20-hour training is an introduction to TCTSY and does not qualify non-clinical yoga teachers to offer trauma services\, including TCTSY. This training is intended to support non-clinical yoga teachers in creating a more trauma-informed\, or trauma-aware yoga session. Clinicians and other professionals will be able to integrate TCTSY elements into their professional context or psychotherapy. \nTraining  language and handouts\nEnglish \nPresented by\nEsther van der Sande\, TCTSY Trainer\, Mentor\, and faculty member of JRI Boston and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga Nederland. \nAbout Esther\nEsther had her first TCTSY training with the Trauma Center in 2011. She is an accredited TCTSY facilitator and member of the trainer’s faculty of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment. She is also a mentor in the annual TCTSY Certification Program. Esther has worked with trauma survivors for many years and offers in-company training in the Benelux. \n\nTrauma-Informed Attention\nIt is important to remember that this training is focused on professional development. Discussing trauma\, even within professional training\, can be challenging/overwhelming. We encourage participants to care for themselves and seek support if needed. \nBecome Certified in TCTSY Methodology\nAlso\, this training qualifies as a pre-requisite for applications for Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga’s annual certification program. More information: https://www.traumasensitiveyoga.com/certification-program.html This foundational training is solely for professional development and is not a certificate program: to be certified in TCTSY\, completion of the 300-hour TCTSY Certification is required.\nThis training is also not intended as an intervention for those who have experienced trauma. \nContinuing Professional Development\n\nInternational Association of Yoga Therapists – 18 contact hours\nYoga Alliance – 20 contact hours\nVereniging Yoga Nederland – 14 contact hours\nAccreditation for continuing education by Register Vaktherapie (RV) – 19 points\n\nRead the latest research on TCTSY\nTestimonials\n“I am a psychologist\, psychosexologist\, educational psychologist\, yoga instructor and within my psychotherapy training (so I have completed many different trainings and courses within my life and career). And the TCTSY Foundational training was probably one of the best trainings I have ever completed. It was full of theoretical knowledge but also practical insights and exercises I can incorporate in my work straigh away. I have truly appreciated the accepting and inclusive environment Esther created and I feel inspired to work with TCTSY values in my work. I would recommend this training basically to anyone working with people – even if you’re not a yoga instructor or mental health practicioner but a nurse or school teacher – I believe you would benefit from the knowledge and skills Esther shared in the training. \nI am really grateful and inspired for having an opportunity to participate in such a course”. \nThank you! \nWeronika\, Poland Online training January 2024 \n“I can highly recommend this training for anyone facilitating yoga sessions. It provides you with valuable knowledge of trauma theory and substantial practical knowledge to support more trauma-informed yoga. It has truly helped me provide more gentle\, supportive\, and appropriate sessions to LGBTQI asylum seekers and refugees. But it has also changed how I think about interacting with people beyond the yoga mat – I truly believe the world would be kinder if everyone took this training!” \nLouisa Borg Costanzi – Online training 2022 \n“Dear Esther\, Thank you very much once again for the wonderful three days. I am so happy and grateful that I got to experience these days with you and the group. For now\, I will let everything settle in and work\, as you beautifully put it\, sprinkle it in sharing the lessons and also in daily life.” \nW. van Leiden\, training 2023 \n“An enrichment of information and tools for anyone dealing with trauma survivors. In a safe online space where the connection is tangible\, this training is delivered with care\, knowledge\, variety\, and depth.” \nAnja\, online training 2023 \nCancellation policy\nIf you wish to cancel your registration for any of our courses\, please note the following guidelines: \n\nCancellations made more than 1 month and 1 day before the event start date will receive a 100% refund of the ticket amount\, excluding administrative costs.\nNo refunds will be provided for cancellations made within 1 month of the event.\n\nFor all enquiries about this training: please contact your training facilitator and organiser\, Esther van der Sande\, at email: esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com
