SUMMARY:Trauma-Sensitive Movement: Reconnecting with Yourself Safely
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Sensitive Yoga – A Gentle Path to Healing\nTrauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY) offers a welcoming and safe space where you can explore movement and breath in a way that feels right for you. It is designed as a supportive practice for those who have experienced trauma\, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)\, complex trauma\, or developmental trauma. \nDeveloped by David Emerson and Dr Bessel van der Kolk at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) in Boston\, MA\, Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an evidence-based approach that fosters connection\, choice\, and empowerment. \nA Gentle & Choice-Based Approach\nIn these sessions\, you are in control of how you move. We offer gentle invitations rather than instructions\, so you can tune into your body at your own pace. There is no expectation to perform movements in a certain way—everything is optional. You might notice different sensations\, and that’s okay. You decide what feels comfortable for you. \nThis practice is not about achieving perfect poses but rather about exploring what feels safe and supportive for your body. There is no physical assistance or corrections\, and we honor your personal experience throughout the session. \nWhat to Expect in a Session\nTrauma-Sensitive Movement is designed to support self-awareness\, grounding\, and choice-making. Through gentle movements and mindful attention\, you may find moments of ease\, presence\, and connection. Our language encourages curiosity and self-compassion\, allowing you to reconnect with yourself in a way that feels right for you. \nIf you are considering joining for the first time\, we warmly invite you to reach out. Before your first session\, we offer a brief chat via phone or Zoom to answer any questions and ensure you feel comfortable. This is a space to explore whether this practice feels right for you\, without any pressure or commitment. \nWe understand that trying something new can feel like a big step. You are not alone. We are here to support you every step of the way. \nPractical Information & How to Join\n\nNo prior yoga experience is needed—this practice is for everyone.\nSessions take place online via Zoom on:\n\nMonday mornings\nSunday\, Tuesday\, and Friday evenings\n\n\nThe cost for a session is €45 (excl. VAT). After payment\, you will receive the Zoom link and password via email within 24 hours.\nUpon registration\, you will also receive an automatic confirmation email.\n\nFor the full schedule\, please [click here]. \nIf you have any questions\, feel free to email us at support@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com. \nAccessibility & Financial Support\nWe believe that healing should be accessible to everyone. As part of our Diversity\, Equity\, and Inclusion initiative\, we offer a limited number of free places for those who may not be able to afford the monthly fees. \nIf this would support your journey\, please reach out to esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com so we can explore a solution together. \nFor Professionals\nThese sessions are not designed for yoga teachers or mental health professionals seeking training in trauma-sensitive practices. If you are a professional interested in learning more about Trauma-Sensitive Movement\, we offer separate training program. \nFor more information\, please contact Esther at esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com or via WhatsApp at +31 (0) 6 11 485057. \n\nWhy “Movement” Instead of “Yoga”?\nWe often use the term “movement” rather than “yoga” because we understand that the word “yoga” may carry certain associations. Our goal is to create a safe\, inclusive space where everyone feels welcome\, regardless of their previous experiences. \nThis is not about mastering yoga poses but about finding moments of connection\, choice\, and self-care. \n\nAre You Curious? Let’s Connect.\nIf this feels like something you’d like to explore\, we’d love to welcome you. You can join at your own pace\, without pressure or expectation. Whenever you’re ready\, we’re here. \nContact us at: support@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com \nFor Dutch speakers\, please [click here] to read this in Dutch.

SUMMARY:Applied Somatic Counselling Skills | April 2025 | ENG

In this course\, you will learn some of the counselling skills that you will need for your work as a Yoga Therapist. \nEsther van der Sande will guide you to experience increased awareness of internal sensations and how to master skills\, such as self-regulation\, to facilitate the process of healing from both physiological and psychological wounds. \nThis module can also be valuable and appropriate for individuals who may not have experienced a specific trauma but would like to extend their counselling skills. \nA Training for Yoga Therapists\, coaches\, psychologists\, and psychotherapists & counsellors.\nAs a Yoga Therapist\, you have already been trained to tailor the practice to the person\, and while the aim is to help people regain or maintain health through movement and breathing\, we know there’s always a psychological component to the healing process. \nAs a psychologist or psychotherapist\, you are taught a specific way to engage with a client\, via talk therapy\, from a top-down approach and how to “address” issues with your client. \nIn this Applied Somatic Counselling Skills module\, you will learn about identifying the source of a challenge\, how to apply invitational language when working with the physical body\, and how to get to the core of the trauma. \nThis unique approach will help you gain more confidence in your work and facilitate your client’s healing journey in a safe manner. \nThe Programme\nWhat you’ll learn during this online course: \n\nWhat are applied somatic counselling skills in Yoga Therapy?\nThe importance of self-awareness during the process\nHow attitudes and values can affect the partnership\nBuilding a relationship of trust with physical work\nCreating a safe place for change\nThe value of listening\, silence\, and holding space\nAccurate empathy and the relevant response\nUsing language and metaphors effectively\nTurning theory into practice and practising the skills\n\nApplied Somatic Counselling Skills is led by Esther van der Sande\, a trauma therapist\, trauma-sensitive yoga facilitator (in TCTSY)\, trainer & mentor at Trauma Sensitive Yoga Nederland. \nAll of Esther’s skills and experience are brought to bear in this workshop\, giving participants a thorough grounding of counselling skills and how they relate to Yoga Therapy. \nApplied Somatic Counseling Skills offers students an opportunity to build space for self-awareness and reflection\, as well as being able to help their clients with an informed and empathetic approach. \nOPEN FOR REGISTRATION\n\nApplied Somatic Counselling Skills for Yoga Therapists – 14-18 October 2024\nApplied Somatic Counselling Skills for Yoga Therapists – 14-18 April 2025\n\nPrice\n650 per person (excluding 21% VAT) \nPlease contact us to find out more at esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com or to reserve your space.
