SUMMARY:Trauma Sensitive Yoga Sessions | November 2024
DESCRIPTION:Trauma-Sensitive Yoga\nTrauma-Sensitive Yoga provides a safe place where you can begin to feel your body and breathe in relation to your trauma. Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is an effective adjunctive treatment for people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)\, complex\, or developmental trauma. This technique was developed by David Emerson and Bessel van der Kolk at the Justice Resource Institute (JRI) in Boston\, MA. \nSensitive Techniques\nIn this type of yoga\, we invite you to tune into what’s happening in your body during the exercises. You may notice different sensations or feelings. You decide what feels right for you. You’re in charge of how you move and what you do\, based on how you feel. It’s about exploring and figuring out what works best for you\, without any physical assistance from us. \nBody-centered Exploration\nTrauma-Sensitive Movement is all about giving you choices and tuning into your body to help with healing. It’s like gently guiding you to reconnect with the here and now\, and with yourself. During our sessions\, we use inviting language that encourages curiosity. You’ll start noticing how making positive choices and taking action can make a difference over time. \nJoining Our Sessions\nIf you’re thinking about joining our online sessions for the first time\, don’t worry! You can reach us at support@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com. We’ll arrange a chat\, either by phone or via Zoom\, to talk about Trauma-Sensitive Movement and what to expect from our online sessions. This chat is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have and for us to get to know each other better. \nWe understand that trying something new can be daunting\, especially when it comes to healing practices. We’re here to support you every step of the way and ensure you feel comfortable and safe. \nAnd if you’re not sure if these sessions are right for you at this point in your journey\, that’s okay too. We’re here to help you figure out your next steps. Feel free to reach out whenever you’re ready! \nFor Dutch speakers\, please click here to read this text in Dutch. \n \nFor Dutch speakers\, please click here to read this text in Dutch.\nExtra Important Information\nNo previous yoga experience is necessary. The sessions on Monday mornings\, Sunday\, Tuesday\, and Friday evenings are mixed sessions\, meaning everyone is welcome. For the schedule\, please click here. \nFor Professionals\nThese movement sessions aren’t for yoga teachers or mental health professionals looking to dive into trauma-informed practices. If you’re a professional interested in learning more about this type of movement\, check out our professional training with Trauma Sensitive Yoga Nederland. For any questions about these sessions or more information\, feel free to write to Esther directly at esther@traumasensitiveyoganederland.com or via a WhatsApp message at +31 (0) 6 11 485057. \nNote on Terminology\nWe often refer to these sessions as “movement” rather than “yoga” because the word “yoga” may not feel comfortable for everyone and might set certain expectations. Our goal is to provide a supportive and inclusive environment that focuses on healing through mindful movement.
